The bedroom is a comfortable place, where people go to escape the chaos of the outside world. They fill their rooms with objects that give them comfort, to juxtapose the turmoil outside. In the solitude of one’s bedroom is where people are able to be their most vulnerable.
This installation of a bedroom, which was on view at Mana Contemporary, translates the state of being alone in a bedroom into a physical, immersive experience. All of the objects in this space were made of fabric. Visitors were able to touch and feel the items, interjecting themselves into a space that does not belong to them but nonetheless is warm and inviting.
Below is the documentation of my capstone project that was on display from April 18th to the 24th, 2019, along with seven other students’ works as part of the Stevens Institute of Technology senior exhibition Come Close.
